On 15th April 2012 a newly planted memorial garden to commemorate those lost in the sinking of the Titanic was unveiled. The striking feature of the garden is a magnificent bronze tablet which has the names of ALL those people who were lost on Titanic – it is fitting that this list is now being referred to as the Belfast list. The Society played a major role in the creation of the ‘Belfast list’.
On 15 April 2012 relatives of those lost locally laid roses at the new Bronze Tablet. The Tablet contains the names of all those who were lost in the disaster. The list is known as the ‘Belfast List’.
The commemoration event on 15 April 2012 at Belfast City Hall was attended by Professor Robert Ballard. He was in Belfast as part of the Belfast’s Titanic 100 commemorations - also in the picture at Belfast's Titanic Memorial Gardens are Deirdre McIntyre relative of William McReynolds who was lost on Titanic on 15 April 1912 and her husband.
