The 2007/08 meetings will be held in Christ Church, The Royal Belfast Academical Institution, College Square East, Belfast and will commence at 7:30 pm on the 2nd Monday of each month, unless otherwise stated. Meeting on board SSNomadic Though not open at present to the public, we are privileged to have been invited by the Nomadic Trust to hold our May meeting on board SS Nomadic, which is currently afloat in Barnett’s Dock in Belfast. After the business of the AGM, there will be a presentation, followed by a tour of the ship, by Rupert Keyzar who is currently in charge of the day to day care of the vessel. This is a very special evening not to be missed. Monday 9 June at 7pm … Annual Match at Comber All members are invited to North Down Cricket Club in Comber where Thomas Andrews played cricket. There are pictures of Thomas and other members of the Andrews family to be seen in the club house. Anyone interested in playing for the Society against a NDCC select, please contact Bryan Patterson. The rest of us will spectate. The evening will finish with a BBQ. Belfast Maritime Festival The Belfast Maritime Festival will take place from 28 June to 29 June 2008. The festival will be a taster of what Belfast has to offer in 2009 when the Tall Ships Race comes to Belfast. The Society hopes to have a presence there. Volunteers please contact Tracy Beare. An Evening at the Ulster Reform Club The Ulster Reform Club on Royal Ave in Belfast was established in 1885 and has special links with Thomas Andrews and Titanic. Web site www.ulsterreformclub.com Normally restricted to members only, the society has the possibility of holding the Christmas event there in December of this year but only if sufficient numbers of member and friends commit. The plan would be that the evening would begin at 7.30pm with a buffet meal, followed by a presentation and tour of the building. This special event will involve a cost of no more than £10 per head and will only take place if 35 plus members sign up. If you are interested, please contact Una Reilly as soon as possible.
